Man, it feels good to write on this site again.

Hello, my name is Osiriredmoon12.  This is my first segment in a hopefully continuing series-"What Are These Monstrosities?"; where I'll discuss archetypes that are so often outshined by other archetypes, you'll even doubt they'll be touched on casually at locals.

The Gorgonics: an archetype of mostly level 3 DARK Rock-types that resemble creatures of various mythologies.  Their strategy is sort of reminiscent of the Reptiliannes- they like to manipulate the opponent's monster's ATK by changing it to 0; but unlike the Reptiliannes, they don't position lock their prey, or the like- just a courteous drop in ATK points.  Also unlike Reptiliannes, they're also good at swarming.

The Members
Gorgonic Golem [Monster/Effect/Level 3/DARK/Rock/ATK: 1200/DEF: 600]: If this card is destroyed by battle and sent to the graveyard: the ATK of the monster that destroyed it becomes 0.  You can banish this card from the graveyard, then target 1 set spell/trap your opponent controls; that target cannot be activated this turn.  Your opponent cannot activate the targeted card in response to this effect's activation.

One of the most important cards in the deck IMO. Not only does it weaken your opponent's monsters, it also stuns their set cards. And since it can banish itself from grave, it makes it easier for DAD to be summoned if you have more than 3 DARK monsters in your grave.

Gorgonic Cerberus [Monster/Effect/Level 3/DARK/Rock/ATK: 1300/DEF: 300]: When this card is Normal Summoned: you can make all Rock-type monsters you control become level 3.

A little slower than the rest of the archetype, but it allows for some level tweaking when it hits the field. If you want to get out a rank 3 XYZ, but you only control a single level 4 Rock-type, this makes it become level 3. A fun target with this is Tackle Crusader- when he goes to the grave, he either B.O.Ms an opponent's face-up monster, or stuns their face-up spells/traps. Fun.

Gorgonic Ghoul [Monster/Effect/Level 1/DARK/Rock/ATK: 100/DEF: 100]: If you control a "Gorgonic Ghoul": you can pay 300 life points; Special Summon this card from your hand.  You can only activate the effect of "Gorgonic Ghoul" up to twice per turn.

Honestly, I think this card is the entire reason Cereberus exists. Not that that's a bad thing, oh no. Even w/o Cerberus, it gives the archetype access to rank 1 summons. Which is good, I guess.

Gorgonic Gargoyle [Monster/Effect/Level 3/DARK/Rock/ATK: 1000/DEF: 1800]: When you Normal Summon a Rock-type monster: you can Special Summon this card from your hand.

The main swarmer, and I am not disappoint with it. Generally, it's best summoned after Golem for Guardian or Giant Soldier of Steel. Just my 2 cents.

Gorgonic Guardian [Monster/XYZ/Effect/Rank 3/DARK/Rock/ATK: 1600/DEF: 1200]: Once per turn, during either player's turn: you can detach 1 XYZ material from this card, then target 1 face-up monster your opponent controls; its ATK becomes 0, and if it does, its effects are negated.  These effects last until the end of this turn.  Once per turn: you can target 1 monster on the field with 0 ATK; destroy it.

The main boss. Almost guarantees your opponent's biggest monster dies. Almost.

Support
Dark Armed Dragon [Monster/Effect/Level 7/DARK/Dragon/ATK: 2800/DEF: 1000]: Cannot be Normal Summoned or Set.  Can only be Special Summoned by having exactly 3 DARK monsters in your graveyard, and cannot be Special Summoned by other ways. You can banish 1 DARK monster from your graveyard, and then target 1 card on the field; destroy that target.

Come on, we're playing a DARK deck here; what more reason do you need to play DAD? As you keep stunning your opponent's spells/traps, let DAD bomb their frontlines.

Gaia Plate The Earth Giant [Monster/Effect/Level 8/EARTH/Rock/ATK: 2800/DEF: 1000]: You can Special Summon this card by banishing any 2 Rock-type monsters from your graveyard.  During your standby phase, banish 1 Rock-type from your graveyard, or send this card to the graveyard. Halve the ATK and DEF of any monster that battles with this card.

Come on, we're playing a Rock-type deck here; what more reason do you need to play Gaia? Have too many DARKs in the grave to pull DAD? Gaia helps.

Catapult Zone [Magic/Field]: Once per turn, if a monster you control would be destroyed by battle, you can 1 Rock-type monster from your deck to your graveyard instead.

Another quick way to add fuel for DAD or Gaia. It even helps activate Tackle Crusader and Revival Golem, and even adds Gorgonic Golems to the grave. Plus nearly everything in this deck is Rock-type, so how can you say no?
