He can fit under Hip hop and pop right?...

Yeah let's say he does...

Anyway, can we take some time to appreciate his work? I know a lot of people don't like him because he's "pop" or "rap" but really.

Listen to his lyrics, they are funny as shit.

Penis Song
Bush Song
American

Literally satires on those people

And then his more serious work like

Same Love
Thrift Shop
Thin Line

He's catchy and raps about serious stuff not that drug and shit stuff that current "artists" do

Personally I love Macklemore. His song Same Love saw to that. Being bisexual and knowing that I could fall for a guy always scared me when I was younger. I wanted to change it because of the stereotypes out there. So that song really hit home with me. Although I have to say Thrift Shop is no where close to being a serious song. That song is a complete joke if you look at the lyrics you'll see he's making fun of the stereotypical 'oh look at all the money I got.' But yeah I personally love Macklemore as he's creative and has a lot of talent.

The only reason I find his song serious in that aspect as it wasn't an entire satire like his song "American" This song made fun off it but it also didn't go crazy overboard. He just kinda made fun of people spending so much money on crap.
