Personal History: 


Early History:
Alex is one of the few souls that accurately remembers his entire life as a human and the exact nature of how he died. While he was trying to stop one of his friends from committing suicide by jumping from a building under construction the floor beneath them collapsed, killing them both instantly.

When he entered the Rukongai as a spirit, it was discovered by the Gotei 13 rather quickly that he had immense spiritual power. After graduation and joining Squad 5, it didn't take long before he became a seated officer.

The Captain of the time was Sajin, Alex's uncle. While they had their differences, Sajin appeared glad that Alex had found his way to the Seireitei when he died. Alex appeared to also have a close relationship with Momo Hinamori, his uncle's lieutenant. While in Squad 5, he met his future wife to be, Elisha Monè.

Sajin's Departure:


After Sajin left the Seireitei, Alex was promoted to the position of Lieutenant while Momo took up the seat of Captain. This is a position Alex would hold for almost 20 years. During these years as Lieutenant, he met Kisuke Urahara while stationed in the human world. Urahara was interested in Alex's abilities and trained him for a short while. People would later attribute this training to Alex's sudden laziness and crazy antics. When Momo retired from the Gotei 13, Alex, who had discovered his Bankai, was instantly promoted to Captain.

While Alex was Captain, Elisha was his lieutenant. It was shortly after this that they had an official marriage ceremony. According to Squad 5 members of the time, Elisha was known as the "Steel-hearted Queen of Squad 5". It was also said it was only through Elisha that Alex would actually do the paperwork he had to do. 


Squads 14 and 15:

Eventually, when Head Captain Yammamoto announced the possibility of adding additional squads to the Seireitei, it was Alex that recommended they create a Squad to specialize in Reishi Manipulation. His request was granted, and Alex officially made Ryusei Kenzaki captain of Squad 14. Ryusei had been Alex's 3rd seat, but he knew she was destined to be part of Squad 14 when she released her Shikai.

Despite not knowing Bankai at the time, She was allowed the position due to a shortage of eligible candidates. As for Squad 15, he met Hiroko when she was still a member of Squad 13. He complimented her on her personality, much to Captain Ukitake's laughter.

Jason's Arrival:

Alex met Jason while the latter was still studying at Shin'ō Academy. While the two didn't exactly get along, Alex decided to train Jason himself. He utilized the same training techniques Urahara used against him and as such would frequently attack Jason without warning or give him tasks without telling him what he actually was supposed to do.

When Jason was made Lieutenant of Squad 2, Alex was one of the Captains present at ceremony despite it not being an official meeting. Afterward, the two would still maintain a close friendship until Jen Valentine appeared in the Seireitei.

Jen's Arrival and Sen's Attack:

While Alex was trying to avoid doing some paperwork, he ran into a bloodied Jason that said he had just been attacked by another Soul Reaper when he attempted to help a girl he found. Alex and Jason brought said girl back with them to the Squad 5 barracks where upon awakening she hugged Jason tightly. Alex teased Jason about this, but Jason responded with saying he didn't know the girl at all.

She seemed saddened by this fact and it was discovered that she and Jason had been in a relationship and he had died attempted to protect her. It was also revealed at that time she was a Quincy. Alex was left with the difficult decision of either reporting Jen's whereabouts to Head Captain Yammamoto or essentially betraying the Seireitei.

Before Alex could decide however, a civil war erupted in the Seireitei. Sen Valentine, a former Captain of Squad 3, had returned in an attempt to bring the Seireitei under his control. Jason, Alex, and Jen were essential in the defeat of Sen's 5 generals and his subsequent defeat.

One of Sen's generals, Banner, turned out to not even be a Soul Reaper at all. Banner betrayed Sen and helped Jason defeat him, before becoming a servant of the Soul King. Alex congratulated Jason as his battle promotion to Captain of Squad 2 and Jen was made an honorary member. 

During this battle though, would be when Alex lost his wife, as she was killed by a man named Minato. Torn by this loss, Alex sunk into a deep depression of which no one knows if he ever truly recovered. It didn't help that 2 years later, Jason retired to the human world with Jen as his wife.

Captain of the Kidō Corps:

Five years after Sen's defeat, Alex received a hidden message from Head Captain Yammamoto. It requested him to meet with the Head Captain immediately. Upon arrival he was asked by Yammamoto to become Captain of the Kidō Corps. Despite his misgivings, Yammamoto surprised him by bringing in Momo back from retirement.

After she assured him she would watch over Squad 5 in his stead, he accepted the promotion. During a trip into the Human World, Alex met a young woman named Meghan. Deciding he liked her, he granted her Soul Reaper powers despite it being highly against the law.

A few years after he made Meghan into a Soul Reaper, Head Captain Yammamoto passed away. After this happened, Alex was one of the only people that fully supported Banner for the position right away.

Marie's Invasion:

When Alex showed up in the Seireitei to discuss an attack by Qunicy in the Rukongai. Everyone was surprised to see him as since his promotion he had been seen less and less in the public spotlight. It was also at this time Rebecca was promoted to Captain of Squad 5, formally placing Momo as the Kidō Corps Lieutenant.

Alex was the one that proposed allowing the Quincy to enter the Seireitei proper despite numerous protests from fellow Captains. After explaining hai reasoning, his plan was adopted. 

Later, he would fight Jen one on one and come out badly injured. After Meghan defeated Marie, he cut off his own healing so that he could take charge of Meghan's healing himself.

Sajin's Invasion of the Seireitei:

Alex was present at the Captain's Meeting after Hisagi's supposed death. He fully supported Goen's promotion to Captain and despite everyone denying Meghan's request to go to Hueco Mundo, he and Momo helped her out.

He sent Momo with Meghan to help her, knowing he was needed at the Seireitei. Later, during the time the Gotei 15 were fighting Sajin's forces, he remained behind. His job was to make sure a Kidō Barrier would always be present around the Seireitei in case the main forces lost. After Sajin's defeat, he congratulated Meghan on her promotion to Captain and assured her he would tell her if anything surfaced regarding what happened to Goen.

Banner's "Assassination":

Kidō Abilities: As Captain of the Kidō Corps, Alex is an extremely efficient practitioner of the art. As Meghan would put it, "He's the only guy I know who can shoot off a Hadō #90 like it's Hadō #1." Alex also is extremely talented with Healing Kidō, often being compared to Retsu Unohana herself. In terms of Barriers, it is known he put the barrier around the Kidō Corps building himself.

Zanpaktōu:

Name: Tentaishirei (天体司令, lit. Celestial Commander)
Sealed Form: A standard Katana with a dark blue circular guard
Release Command: Divide and Conquer

Shikai Form: Alex's Zanpaktōu splits itself into two distinct blades upon release. One blade appears to have a red hue to it with a small Sun charm attached to the hilt while the other has a blue hue with a small crescent moon charm attached to the hilt.

Alex calls these blades the "Sun and Moon" Blades respectively. Each one's own individualized power is based upon the location of the celestial body it represents. In the middle of the day, the Sun Blade will be at it's most powerful. On the night of the full moon, the Moon Blade is at it's peak. Due to the Moon having different phases, while the Sun is stagnant it could be said the Moon Blade is the more powerful of the two.

A further limitation is the effects are weakened if he is not within direct contact of the sun rays or lunar rays. So for example, if Alex is underground, his Shikai is weakened.

Shikai Attacks:

• Solar Slash: -Alex raises the Sun Blade to the sky and charges it full of Solar Energy before releasing the attack. Depending on how long he had to charge, the arc of the attack can extend to almost a full meter.
  
• Lunar Slash: -Similar to Solar Slash, but with the Moon blade instead.
  

Bankai Form: Alex's outfit stays the same, and his two blades actually combine into a single blade with a purple hue complete with a star pendant attached to it. The appropriately named "Star Blade" has the same power as both of the two swords at full power combined. It can increase it's own power level even more if there is a clear star lit sky.

Bankai Attacks:

• Fourth Song, Lost Memory  - Rebecca will play a melancholic tune that can cause her target to experience short term memory loss. The longer she plays the more memory they lose. She can also use this to attempt to undo mind wiping effects used on her allies or if they simply can't remember something.
  
• Fifth Song, Demon's Lullaby - Rebecca will play a rather soft but seemingly sinister song that can put a target to sleep. If she plays long enough, the target

Bio: Banner is the Head Captain of the Seireitei while not actually being Shinigami himself. Not much is known about his past as he rarely talks about it, but about 50 years ago he joined with Sen Valentine in an attack against the Seireitei.

After he fought with Jason, he joined the Seireitei without much reasoning why other than, "You are a better man than Sen could ever be if he continues like this..." After Sen was defeated, he was approached by the Soul King to be a personal servant/messenger for him. Banner accepted, and held this position for almost 65 years.

 About 35 years ago, Head Captain Yammamoto passed away. As he left no successor, the Seireitei was in chaos. The Soul King stepped in and placed Banner as Head Captain. While the other Captains had complaints, an incident that happened at a later date would destroy all qualms they had about his leadership. [BIO WILL BE UPDATED WHEN LAST ARC IS COMPLETED]

Other Powers
Kidō: Not much is known about Banner's Kidō powers, as he rarely uses it.

• Hadō: Assumed through 99.
  
• Bakudō: Assumed through 100.
  

Illusion: While Banner is not a Shinigami, he does have powers of his own. He can create a barrier around a given area that seems similar to a normal Kidō Barrier. Inside this barrier, Banner can create and manipulate objects around the given area and can mess with his opponent's senses. Strain depends on size of illusion, however his illusions are real enough inside of the barrier to cause real harm to his target.

He can also directly affect one person's mind, as seen when he used this technique on Jason during the war with Sen. Banner has said himself his powers are extremely limited while at the same time limitless. "It all depends on the mind of my opponent."

Sealed Form: A standard katana with a dark blue almost octagonal guard guard
Release Command: Shed your light

Shikai Form: The sword becomes a spear the same color as the guard.
Shikai Abilities: 

• Solar Flare - Nick raises his Zanpaktou to the air and causes a fierce light to shine down on his opponents. If they are very close it can cause temporary blindness
  
• Shine Barrier - Nick's Zanpaktou will glows and create a small shield to protect him from oncoming attacks.
  
• Light Spear - Nick points his spear at the target, and it will charge a small wave of light to shoot at the target. If charged long enough, can even pierce a Danku.
  

Bankai Form: Nick now sports a shield alongside his spear. He also now has a small glimps of chainmail underneath his uniform.

Bankai Abilities: 

• Light Spear Cannon  - Nick can now shoot more than one Light Spear at a given time. Needs more time to charge to do considerable damage.
  
• Final Flash - Nick will become a shining beacon of light in which he will be able to not only temporarily blind his opponent if they look at him, but he will be able to send out waves of Light energy.

Hollowfication: Nick is a Visored, an as such has the ability to create a Hollow Mask to increase his speed, power, endurance, and overall fighting ability. Nick's hollow mask appears to be half white and red cut down the middle with only a single eye-hole for the left eye.

When in his Hollow form he even has access to powers that normally only hollows could use.

Bio: 

Time as Captain of Squad 2 originally:
Hizashi originally was Captain of Squad 2 over 150 years ago. During his time as Captain, he witnessed Sen's betrayal and Sajin's departure. Yourichi was his Lieutenant. One day he received a report of humans turning up with all their spiritual energy missing. Leaving Yourichi in charge, he went to investigate himself. During his investigation, he was attacked and drained of almost all his energy. Unfortunately, that attack also changed him into the very thing that attacked him; a Bount.

Time as a Bount:
Hizashi wandered for years before he was found by a fellow Bount named Raiden. Raiden gave him hope that he had been searching for since his transformation. Agreeing to help Raiden accomplish his goal of overthrowing Yammamoto, he befriended fellow Bounts Dominic and Sachi.

Bount Invasion Arc:
Hizashi's first task was to kidnap the Lieutenant of Squad 14, Oko Yushima. Due to his training as a member of Squad 2, this proved to be a rather simple task. Unfortunately, not too long after the kidnapping, he ran into Squad 9's Lieutenant, Naki Goen, who had been sent to find Yushima. The two engaged in battle with Hizashi coming out the victor.

After that was the first time he met Meghan Allen. She had been sent to look for Goen, and they actually sat down and had a rather pleasant conversation. Afterward, he convinced her to follow him and managed to get into a conflict with her. Before the battle could be decided though, he was trapped in a Bakudo by Rebecca and was saved by fellow Bount Makota.

After being saved, he was told to remain in the hideout while the other Bounts went about the rest of the plan. While there, the youngest of the Bounts, Sachi, asked him why they kidnapped Yushima. Hizashi didn't have an answer, and simply told her to listen to Raiden. [Since I am lazy I will finish this Bio later.]

Zanpakutō
Name: Nikkōkōtei (Sunlight Emperor)
Sealed Form: A standard wakazashi with a dark blue guard.
Release Command: Reign

Shikai Form: The sword becomes a whip that can extend to about 25 feet.
Shikai Abilities: 

• Vine Pull - Hizashi's whip wraps around the target's legs and snaps backward, either pulling them closer or breaking their legs.
  
• Whirlwind Blast - Hizashi spins the whip in front of him to create a whirlwind capable of pushing the opponent back.
  
• Ivy Shackles - Hizashi extends his whip to the fullest reach and it splits to wrap around the target's outer limbs. Thorns then grow from the whip before it snaps back. This attack can even break a limb.
  

Bankai Form: Hizashi's whip now is covered in thorns and his outfit has armor integrated into it's design.

Bankai Abilities: 

• Black Garden  - Hizashi lets his whip descend to the ground. As it hits, vines shoot out at the surrounding area creating a mock garden to fight in. Thorns cover the vines, but it appears to not affect Hizashi. Hizashi can command these vines with his hands to attempt to strike the opponent.
  
• Final Rose - Once Black Garden has been used, Hizashi can command all the vines to collapse in on themselves, attempting to suffocate and pierce the target. After this attack is used, Black Garden cannot be used again for the remainder of the fight.

Kidō: While Hizashi is rather rusty with his Kidō, he can still fight with the best of them.

Bio: Rose is the young daughter of Alex and Elisha. She grew up during the time they were both in Squad 5, where she was tutored along with her brother by their father. When her mother passed, she would refuse to eat or leave her room.

Eventually, Ken managed to convince her to become stronger in memory of their mother, which she took in stride. She's been called her mother's daughter by many, due to her very "eccentric" personality. She refuses to listen to anyone but herself, often ignoring even her father if she feels he's ruining her fun. She got into trouble around the barracks quite a bit, and her father eventually told her she needed to join the Shin'ō Academy so that she could become a Shinigami.

She passed the entrance exam with flying colors, and that is currently where she is being schooled.

Bio: Ken is the son of Alex and Elisha Burke. As his father's name has become important in the Seireitei, he was treated rather nobly by fellow residents of the Soul Society. Every time this happened, Ken would grow to resent his father a little more. It didn't help the fact that other than his tutoring lessons, his father was rather absent from his life.

Always off on missions, Elisha was the only one who would spend time with him. When she died, he noticed his sister slip into a depression. Not wanting her to suffer, he took it upon himself to get her out of it. He gave her a reason to keep going by showing her that she could still protect everyone she cared about. Since that day, he and his sister have had a healthy rivalry.

Momo was the one that suggested he join Shin'ō Academy to receive formal study. He accepted and passed the entrance exam with an almost perfect score. When his sister found out, she instantly applied too. Currently he is a first year student.
