Tara's Apartment Empty Tara's Apartment

Post by Seraph Thu Dec 11, 2014 10:03 pm

Tara appeared in the living room of her apartment, Apollo unconscious on her shoulder. She managed to lay him down on the futon before collapsing. Teleporting herself was strenuous enough. But teleporting someone with her? It drained her past a point where she felt comfortable doing anything. Not that, at the present time, she had much of a choice.

Both their wounds needed to be taken care of. She pushed herself up onto her feet. There was an assortment of medicine already strewn about on the coffee table. She grabbed a painkiller in a syringe. As Apollo couldn't currently swallow a pill, he wasn't in any position to argue. She rolled up his sleeve and injected it into him, quickly following it with a power suppressant. The less likely he was to aggravate his wound, the better.

Sighing, she stripped out of her stealth suit. It landed in a pile on the floor near the closet. She pulled on a pair of workout shorts and a tank top. The top of the rose tattoo on her back peeked out from underneath.

She sat down on the edge of the futon. The closet thing in reach was a power booster, which she injected into her own bloodstream to keep her functioning. It had stopped occurring to her after a while that most of the drugs she kept around her apartment were highly illegal. She had acquired her most recent supply from a raid she had done on an Advanced Sciences Society warehouse after a tip from her partner. To say she was dependent on the assortment wasn't far off from the truth. It wasn't like she could go to a hospital without getting caught.

She grabbed a roll of bandages and started seeing to her own wounds first. She had no idea where to start on his. Best that she was bandaged enough to be able enough to deal with whatever it was. She paused briefly to move most of the things on the table, including the daggers she took from Apollo, to the far edge, away from the futon. The last thing she needed was for him to accidentally stab something into either of them.

The throbbing. It wouldn't stop.

Apollo could only think of the ache stemming from his left side, the agony hitching his breath.

A small prick registered at the back of his mind and the throbbing hurt a little less.

He felt someone cleaning his body, the familiar sting of rubbing alcohol almost a relief.

What happened? What was going on?

The bliss of deep unconsciousness ensnared him, pulling him into its void.

Halfway through cleaning off his shoulder, she noticed his breathing even out. She smiled.

It looked as if he'd be out for a while. And she really needed a shower.

She finished cleaning his shoulder, then grabbed a large t-shirt and a pair of sweatpants from her closet. She cut the left sleeve off the shirt. She placed a cup of water and two pills closest to him on the table. Next to the pills was an index card that read "Take these when you wake up. The clothes are if you want to change".

Grabbing some bandages and a couple pills for herself, she retreated into the bathroom.

Apollo awoke to the sound of pitter-pattering of falling water.

His everything ached, eyes struggling to open. Pushing off the blanket, he sat up from the futon.

When he did manage to, Apollo regretted it immediately.

All he could see were blurs of the most hideous bright orange. He gripped onto a flat surface, pushing something off and sending it crashing into the hard flooring.

Apollo steadied himself, his head spinning from the sudden movement.

He stumbled to his right, crashing through a door.

The assassin hollered in pain as agony shot up through the left side of his body. The sickly growth throbbed, almost tauntingly reminding him of its attachment.

Apollo slowly stood up, the pain now eclipsed by shock.

He now realized he was in a bathroom. An occupied bathroom.

There was a woman asleep in the shower, the hot water pouring onto her and shrouded by its hot vapors.

Despite the steam, he could make out the elaborate tattoo on the woman's back.

It was a rose, intricately and lovingly etched into her skin. A lone petal remained uncolored, boldly in contrast amongst the others.

He instinctively reached for his back, where a nearly identical mark of his own rested.

It couldn't be.

"Ta-Tara?"

A pained cry roused Tara from unconsciousness. She didn't remember sitting down in her shower, nor did she remember keeping the door open. A look up explained the situation.

She reached over and turned the water off, then braced her arms against the walls so she could stand.

The first thing that came to her mind to say to him was, "I left some painkillers on the table for ya." Not much was registering to her brain, least of all that he'd finally realized she was who she said she was.

The steam began to clear from the room. One look at her would show that she was barely keeping herself standing. She was drained.

She grabbed a towel from the bar next to the shower. She took great care drying around the plasma burn on the lower part of her torso, where Apollo had shot her through her barrier.

It took her almost a full minute to notice he was still standing there wordless after she threw on the tank top and shorts she had been wearing before.

"You okay Maddy?"

Apollo stood there, gaping at his half-naked mentor.

A particularly painful throb shook him out of his reverie.

After Tara had donned fresh clothing, he wordlessly followed suit.

"You okay Maddy?"

Apollo felt something rising in his throat, only to be gagged by something else.

It only took her three words to completely disarm him.

God, he felt pathetic.

He did not dare to look at her, knowing that concerned look in her eyes would tear down all those walls that comforted and numbed him.

It came out as a hoarse croak, but he knew she heard him.

"I don't know."

"Let's get some better painkillers into you," she stated, still only half at attention. She gently pushed by Apollo back into the living room.

Reaching down to the table, she grabbed a syringe, another power booster, and injected it into herself. An involuntary shiver ran down her spine. She had to stay awake for now.

A thought crossed her mind: where was the glass she'd set out before? Looking down, she saw broken glass lying in a puddle of water. The broken shards levitated behind her as she walked over to the small kitchen area across the room. They set down on the counter. She pulled out another cup from the cabinet over the sink.

She walked back over, towel in one hand, glass in the other. She half sat, half collapsed onto the futon. Levitating the glass in front of her, she poured out two pills identical to the first two she set out for him.

Worried crimson eyes turned to look up at him. "Here, take these," she offered.
